UiTM has approved the establishment of its first Industry Centre of Excellence (ICoE), the Institute of Microelectronics and Semiconductors (IMS). The establishment of ICoE IMS aims to strengthen the national semiconductor industry talent ecosystem. Through industry-focused training initiatives in the fields of semiconductors and microelectronics, UiTM plays a key role in strengthening the development of Bumiputera talent. With the presence of an ICoE dedicated to semiconductors, UiTM can forge strategic and impactful collaborations with industry to support the development of high–value-chain talent. The Malaysia 2025 National Budget has allocated RM20 million to Universiti Teknologi MARA (UITM) to increase the number of Bumiputera engineers for the semiconductor industry.
